Kokoro Lifestyle is an online publication and community with the values of wholehearted living.

Kokoro (Japanese: 心) means “heart; mind; spirit”, which inspires our values and tag line “live with all your heart, mind & soul.”

Our founder & editor is @christine.wehrmeier. We are pleased to welcome @johnbadgerpearson as a staff writer. Both had extensive careers at the BBC and happened to have also both studied at the London School of Journalism.

We value quality over quantity, as well as simplicity in all things. So we might not share content as frequently as other publications, and we also don’t want to bombard you with advertisements for things you don’t need.

Our mission is for our content to be thought-provoking, inspiring and worth your time.

One of the many ways we live half-heartedly or waste our energy is doing things we don't feel really delight us.

Someone asks us to do something and we have the time and want to help them out, so we say yes. We keep saying yes to things and leave no room for the important things that bring us joy and meaning. Sometimes we might build an entire career and life this way. The danger is we end up down a path that was not what we really wanted and that we feel quite ambivalent about.

Sometimes it's hard to really know if we actually want to do something, especially if we've not been strongly connected to our own inner voice for much of our lives. We might feel quite neutral about things. We don't dislike things, but don't feel excited either. Which is where this piece of golden advice is useful. Make room for that which fires you up by saying no to the things that don't.
